Michael Fieldman

Precision Psychiatry

I do not believe in one-size-fits-all psychiatry. With over 10 years of experience in molecular and cellular biology research, I bring a deep understanding of neurobiological processes into depression treatment NY. After a comprehensive evaluation, patients receive a dedicated plan designed around their symptoms, history, and daily life, with personalized medication management and ongoing monitoring.

Depression Treatment NY: Mild, Severe, and Complex Depression

Depression can look different from one person to another and may involve feelings of sadness, loss of interest, physical symptoms, or changes that interfere with daily life. Some individuals experience depressive symptoms linked to clinical depression, major depression, Persistent depressive disorder, Seasonal affective disorder, or postpartum depression. Others may face severe depression, treatment-resistant depression, or depression alongside anxiety disorders or Bipolar Disorder.

As a trusted depression treatment center, we provide mental health care for a wide range of depressive conditions through outpatient programs and coordinated treatment programs. Care may involve medication management and referrals for therapy services such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, talk therapy, family therapy, or group therapy when appropriate. For individuals who have not responded to traditional treatment, coordination may include advanced treatment modalities such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, TMS treatment, Electroconvulsive Therapy, or Vagus Nerve Stimulation when clinically indicated.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Question

What Does A Psychiatrist Help With?

A Psychiatrist evaluates and treats a wide range of mental health conditions using medical, diagnostic, and evidence-based approaches. This can include psychiatric evaluations, psychiatric medication management, and ongoing monitoring for conditions such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personality disorders, eating disorders, psychotic disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, treatment-resistant depression, postpartum depression, and substance abuse. The goal is improved stability, functioning, and overall quality of life.

Different Types of Depression include major depressive disorder, clinical depression, Persistent depressive disorder, postpartum depression, Seasonal affective disorder, and treatment-resistant depression. Some individuals experience severe symptoms or depression alongside anxiety disorders or Bipolar Disorder. Understanding the type of depression is essential for selecting the best treatment method and supporting long-term recovery.

Diagnosis begins with a comprehensive evaluation that reviews symptoms, medical history, family history, and how depression affects daily life. Mental health professionals assess depressive symptoms, physical symptoms, and emotional patterns to guide treatment of depression. Accurate diagnosis helps ensure effective treatments and appropriate referrals when needed.

Depression treatment options may include medication management, outpatient programs, and coordinated therapy services. Depending on severity, treatment programs may involve group therapy, family therapy, or referrals for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or talk therapy. For resistant depression, advanced options such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Electroconvulsive Therapy, or Vagus Nerve Stimulation may be considered.

If depression symptoms such as loss of interest, feelings of sadness, or suicidal thoughts begin to interfere with daily life or functioning, it may be time to seek help. Early treatment can reduce the risk of severe depression and improve quality of life. Support from a loved one or family members can be an important first step.
