Fees & Payments

Gimel Health is a self-pay practice. I don't bill insurance directly, but I provide an itemized superbill after every visit so you can claim out-of-network reimbursement from your plan.

I see patients in person in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and by telehealth anywhere in New Jersey and New York. I'm licensed in those two states only. If you're located elsewhere, I won't be able to treat you unless you come to the Fort Lee office in person.

What Care Costs

10-min Discovery Call

50-min Initial Evaluation

Follow-Up Visit

You pay at the visit. I provide an itemized superbill afterward for out-of-network reimbursement. If your plan has out-of-network benefits, your first submitted claim is the most accurate way to see what you'll get back, since plans vary and I can't estimate a percentage that would apply to yours.

What The Fees Buy

A first appointment long enough to be useful

Up to 50 minutes. If more time is needed, you won't be charged extra. We go through your current symptoms, when and how they developed, your medical and psychiatric history, and what you've already tried.

Appointments only when there's a reason for them

I don't ask people to come in without a clinical reason. If you're stable, I'll tell you so rather than filling a slot. The annual cost of care here is often lower than the per-visit fee suggests.

A treatment plan built on why, not just what

My background is in molecular and cellular biology. That shapes how I prescribe: matching the medication to the underlying mechanism rather than working down a list until something sticks.

Itemized superbill is issued after every visit

Payment taken at the time of the visit

Cancellations: 48 hours' notice required, otherwise the full session fee applies

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About
Fees & Payments

Things patients usually want to know before reaching out.

Do you take my insurance?

No. I don’t bill any insurance plan directly. If your plan has out-of-network benefits, you can use the superbill I provide to claim reimbursement.

Will my insurance reimburse me?

If your plan includes out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits, often yes, once your deductible is met. Plans vary significantly in what they reimburse, so I’d recommend calling the member number on your card to ask directly rather than relying on an estimate here.

Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?

No, I don’t accept either.

How often will I need to be seen?

Early on, more often while we establish and adjust treatment. Once you’re stable, as little as clinically necessary. I don’t schedule visits that don’t need to happen.

Do you offer a free consultation call?

Yes, a short discovery call of about 10 minutes, so we can both check whether this is the right fit before you book a paid evaluation.

Can you prescribe medication?

Yes. Evaluation and prescribing are the core of this practice.

Do you offer weekly therapy?

No. I provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Many patients see me alongside a therapist, and that combination works well.

What if I'm not in New Jersey or New York?

I’m only licensed to treat patients located in NJ and NY, so I won’t be able to take you on unless you’re willing to come to the Fort Lee office in person. Your state’s psychiatric association directory is a good place to start looking elsewhere.
