Michael Fieldman

Online Psychiatrist NYC — Personalized Care From Wherever You Are

I do not believe in one-size-fits-all psychiatry. With over 10 years of experience in molecular and cellular biology research, I bring a deep understanding of neurobiological processes into online psychiatry for patients across New York City and New Jersey. After a comprehensive evaluation, you receive a personalized treatment plan built around your unique needs — with medication management handled remotely, on your schedule.

Online Psychiatry for New Yorkers Who Don't Have Time to Wait

Finding a good psychiatrist in New York City is hard enough. Finding one who offers same-quality online psychiatry, no long wait times, no waiting room, no hour spent commuting to a doctor’s office, is harder still. That’s exactly what Gimel Health offers.

Busy professionals in Manhattan, patients in Midtown East, the Upper East Side, Wall Street, and across the five boroughs are increasingly choosing telepsychiatry services over in-person visits. Not because it’s easier, though it is, but because the quality of care is just as good, and in many cases better. When you’re seen from the comfort of your home, without the stress of travel times and crowded waiting rooms, the conversation tends to go deeper.

At Gimel Health, online psychiatry sessions run via secure videoconferencing. Your first session is a full psychiatric evaluation of up to 50 minutes. Follow-up visits focus on medication management, progress tracking, and adjusting your treatment option as needed. Every appointment is built around your mental health issues, not a template, not a protocol. New York State and New Jersey residents can both access telepsychiatry services through our practice.

Virtual psychiatry at Gimel Health covers a wide range of mental health conditions including anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, sleep disorders, eating disorders, and substance abuse where it overlaps with other psychiatric conditions. PA-C Michael Feldman also works with patients dealing with social anxiety, relationship issues, and the kind of low-grade mental health issues that affect daily life but often go untreated because people don’t know where to start. Online therapy and in-person care are both available depending on your situation and what works best for you.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Question

What is an online psychiatrist and how does it work?

An online psychiatrist provides the same psychiatric services as an in-person provider — evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing mental health support — through secure video visits rather than face-to-face appointments. At Gimel Health, telepsychiatry sessions run through a HIPAA-compliant platform. Your first session is a full evaluation. After that, follow-up visits are typically up to 25 minutes and focus on how your treatment plan is working and any adjustments needed.

Yes. Research across the United States consistently shows that telepsychiatry services produce comparable outcomes to in-person care for most mental health conditions. For medication management in particular — which is the core of what I do at Gimel Health — virtual psychiatry is an effective solution. Some patients actually find it easier to open up from the comfort of your home than in a doctor’s office.

Virtual psychiatry works well for busy professionals with demanding schedules, New Yorkers who find travel times to in-person appointments impractical, patients in parts of New York State or New Jersey where access to mental health professionals is limited, and anyone who prefers remote care as their default. It’s also a good fit for patients managing ongoing conditions like bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, or sleep disorders who need regular follow-up visits without the friction of person visits.

Through online psychiatric care at Gimel Health, I treat anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, sleep disorders, eating disorders, mood disorders, and substance abuse where it overlaps with other psychiatric conditions. I also work with patients dealing with social anxiety, relationship issues, and other various mental health conditions that affect day-to-day functioning. If you’re unsure whether your situation is a good fit for online psychiatry, reach out and we can talk through it before you book.

My focus is psychiatric medication management rather than talk therapy or family therapy. That said, I do provide brief therapeutic support where appropriate during sessions, and I actively collaborate with therapists who provide cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, and other types of therapy — coordinating on the medication side to make sure both parts of your care are aligned. If you need a referral to a therapist, I’m happy to help point you in the right direction.

No referral is needed. You can book directly through the Gimel Health patient portal or by calling during business hours. New York City and New Jersey residents are both welcome, and new patients are currently being accepted for online sessions.

Your first session is a full psychiatric evaluation lasting up to 50 minutes. I’ll ask about your medical history, current symptoms, any previous mental health treatment, and your goals. There’s no need to prepare anything specific, though having a list of current medications handy is helpful. After the evaluation, I’ll outline a personalized treatment plan and we’ll discuss next steps together.

My practice focuses primarily on adults, but I do have experience with adolescent psychiatry and child psychiatry on a case-by-case basis. If you’re seeking online psychiatric care for a young person, get in touch and we can assess whether Gimel Health is the right fit or whether a more specialist referral would serve them better.

Most online psychiatry platforms assign you to whoever is available. At Gimel Health, you work directly with me — PA Michael Feldman — every single appointment. I bring a background in molecular and cellular biology that informs how I approach psychiatric medication, and I take on a limited number of patients so that the level of person care stays high. You’re not a ticket in a queue. You’re a patient with a specific situation, and that’s how I treat it.
