Michael Feldman PA-C

Michael Feldman has come to medicine with a unique background, bringing years of experience in molecular and cellular biology – a field that underpins the understanding of the brain and mental health.

He had received his M.Sc. from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and he has also taken part in several research projects in world renowned scientific centers such as The Weizmann institute of Science in Israel and Mount Sinai Hospital in NY.

PA Feldman graduated from the Physician Assistant program at PACE University – Lenox Hill Hospital in 2017. He has since worked in inpatient and outpatient settings successfully treating conditions of various complexities such as severe episodes of mood disorders, anxiety and panic disorders, ADHD and many others.

Bridging the gap between the microscopic world of cells and the complexities of human behavior is precisely where Michael’s experience becomes invaluable in a clinical setting. His deep understanding of biological processes allows him to stay informed about the latest advancements in psychiatric medications and therapies with a targeted approach. This knowledge translates into a more comprehensive treatment plan for his patients, considering both the biological and psychological aspects of mental health.

With his diverse background and fluency in English, Russian, and Hebrew, PA Feldman understands the value of cultural sensitivity and is able to integrate it into his approach to healthcare. This allows him to customize his care to ensure each patient feels comfortable and receives the best possible treatment.

What is Schizoaffective Disorder?

Schizoaffective Disorder can feel like living in two different emotional worlds – struggling with shifts in mood while also feeling disconnected from reality. You or someone you care about may experience hallucinations, delusions, or disorganized thinking, along with periods of deep depression or intense energy and restlessness. These symptoms can overlap and fluctuate, making daily life confusing, overwhelming, and emotionally exhausting. It’s not “just depression,” and it’s not “just psychosis.” It’s a complex condition – and you deserve support that sees the full picture.

That’s why we focus on treating the whole person – not just isolated symptoms. At Gimel Health PC, we provide evidence-based care for Schizoaffective Disorder that integrates medical treatment with emotional and psychological support. Whether symptoms are new or long-standing, we work with you to build stability, improve daily functioning, and restore a sense of self and purpose. Healing is possible – and you don’t have to go through this alone.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Question

What is your treatment philosophy, and what makes your approach unique?

At Gimel Health, my treatment philosophy is rooted in providing thoughtful, personalized psychiatric care that respects the individuality of each patient. I combine clinical expertise with a strong foundation in molecular and cellular biology to develop treatment plans that are both scientifically informed and tailored to your specific goals. A core principle of my approach is clinical integrity—I do not prescribe medications unless they are truly necessary, and when medication is indicated, I work collaboratively with you to ensure it aligns with your needs, values, and preferences.

What makes my approach unique is this careful balance of biological insight, therapeutic precision, and cultural sensitivity. I offer care in English, Russian, and Hebrew, and strive to create a space where communication is clear and culturally attuned. At Gimel Health, I avoid one-size-fits-all solutions, favoring a measured, evidence-based path that recognizes the complexity of each person’s mental health journey.

As a psychiatry provider (such as a psychiatrist, psychiatric physician associate, or nurse practitioner), I am medically trained to diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medications, with a focus on the biological and neurological aspects of mental illness. A psychotherapist (such as a psychologist, social worker, or counselor) is trained to provide talk therapy and help individuals work through emotional, behavioral, or relational challenges but does not prescribe medication. At Gimel Health, I may offer brief therapeutic support when appropriate and also collaborate with psychotherapists to ensure comprehensive care when needed.

The length of your visit depends on the type of appointment. The initial consultation is a comprehensive session lasting up to 50 minutes, during which I explore your personal history, medical background, current concerns, and treatment goals in depth. This allows me to build a strong foundation for your care and begin tailoring a plan that meets your needs. Follow-up visits are typically up to 25 minutes long and focus on tracking progress, making adjustments, and addressing any new developments. At Gimel Health, I strive to make every session focused, collaborative, and responsive to your needs.

Your first visit is a thoughtful, in-depth conversation designed to help me understand you as a whole person—not just a set of symptoms. I’ll ask about your personal, psychiatric, and medical history, discuss your current challenges, and begin identifying your treatment goals. There are no specific prerequisites, but it’s very helpful if you bring a list of your current medications and supplements, any relevant family medical or mental health history, and a sense of the life events or stressors you think I should know about. This session lays the groundwork for a personalized and effective treatment plan.

Staying connected between appointments is an important part of effective treatment. At Gimel Health, I view mental healthcare as a collaborative process, and your active involvement is key to achieving the best possible outcomes. If any questions, concerns, or changes arise between visits—whether it’s about medication, symptoms, or anything else—you are encouraged to reach out. I will provide clear instructions on how and when to contact me so that communication remains open, timely, and productive.

At Gimel Health, I offer in-person, telehealth, and hybrid appointment options to meet your needs and preferences. However, in accordance with clinical best practices and legal guidelines, your first visit must take place in person, unless a rare exception applies. After the initial evaluation, follow-up appointments may be conducted virtually, depending on your situation and current state regulations. My goal is to deliver flexible, high-quality care while upholding standards that ensure effective and responsible treatment.

At Gimel Health, I follow a personalized care model, outside insurance networks. I do not bill insurance companies directly, but if you have out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement—typically 60% to 70% of the visit cost, depending on your plan. I will provide all necessary documentation and superbills to support your reimbursement process. This approach allows me to deliver individualized, flexible care without the limitations often imposed by insurance-based systems.

If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. With timely communication, I’ll be happy to offer a make-up appointment within the following weeks. However, if you miss a session or cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, the full session fee may be charged, as that time has been reserved specifically for you. Please keep in mind that insurance companies typically do not reimburse for missed or late-canceled appointments, even if you have out-of-network benefits.

Yes, I strongly support a collaborative, team-based approach to mental healthcare. With your consent, I’m glad to coordinate with your therapist, primary care physician, or any other healthcare providers involved in your care. At Gimel Health, I believe that open communication among providers often leads to more effective treatment and better long-term outcomes, especially when navigating complex or overlapping medical and psychiatric concerns.

Comprehensive services are designed for each individual. Treatment of Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Eating Disorders,
Psychosis, schizophrenia, and other psychiatric conditions.
