Care That Doesn't Get Lost in Translation

Psychiatric care depends on precision: describing exactly how a symptom feels, exactly when it started, exactly what changed after a medication. That precision is hard enough in your first language and often genuinely difficult through an interpreter or in a second language you're not fully comfortable in. Appointments here can be conducted entirely in Russian, from the first evaluation through every follow-up.

NO INTERPRETER, NO GAPS

An interpreter adds a layer between you and your provider, and nuance gets lost in that layer more often than people expect. Talking directly in Russian means describing your experience precisely the first time, not approximately.

FAMILIAR WITH THE COMMUNITY, NOT JUST THE LANGUAGE

Fort Lee and the surrounding Bergen County area have a substantial Russian-speaking population, and a meaningful share of patients here found this practice through word of mouth within that community. Speaking the language is part of it. Understanding the context people are coming from, sometimes including skepticism toward psychiatric care shaped by experience elsewhere, is the other part.

THE SAME CARE, IN THE LANGUAGE YOU THINK IN

Everything available to English-speaking patients, the initial evaluation, ongoing medication management, coordination with a therapist, is available in Russian. This isn't a translated version of the practice, it's the same practice, conducted in your language.

Why molecular biology matters to your treatment

Most psychiatric prescribing is trial-and-error. My background in
molecular biology — MSc from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, with
research at the Weizmann Institute and Mt Sinai — lets me think about
your case at the level of biological pathways, not just symptom
checklists. That means fewer wasted medication trials and a clearer
rationale for every decision.

Who I treat

Adults, adolescents, and children with anxiety, depression, ADHD,
bipolar disorder, OCD, eating disorders, and complex or treatment-
resistant cases. I work especially well with patients who've been let
down by rushed 15-minute medication checks elsewhere.

What your first visit looks like

I speak English, Russian, and Hebrew, and I conduct appointments in whichever language you're most comfortable in. My background is in molecular and cellular biology, with research at the Weizmann Institute of Science and Mount Sinai, and I bring the same precision to prescribing regardless of what language the conversation happens in.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About
Russian-Speaking Psychiatric Care

Things patients usually want to know before reaching out.

Are appointments actually conducted in Russian, or is an interpreter used?

Directly in Russian, no interpreter. Michael Feldman is fluent and conducts the full evaluation and all follow-up visits in Russian if that’s your preference.

Can I switch between Russian and English during the same appointment?

Yes. Many patients naturally mix languages, especially with medical or technical terms, and that’s completely fine.

Is this a different or limited version of the practice for Russian-speaking patients?

No. It’s the same evaluation, the same medication management, the same follow-up process available to any patient here, conducted in Russian.

Where are appointments held?

In person at the Fort Lee, NJ office, or by telehealth anywhere in New Jersey or New York.

Do you also speak Hebrew?

Yes, English, Russian, and Hebrew.

Is a referral needed?

No. You can book directly, or start with a free discovery call in Russian or English.
